Friday 27th January 2023 – Justus Mucyo has been appointed as the new Bboxx Kenya MD. The announcement follows a year of significant growth within Bboxx, Africa’s leading super platform that is committed to transforming lives and unlocking potential by providing access to essential products and services like clean energy, clean cooking, mobile technology, and financial services.
Justus has been involved in the Rwanda Energy sector for over 12 years, both in the public and private sector. From working with charities in the renewable energy as a student to pioneering off-grid operations with Bboxx in Rwanda. He has also previously held different positions at Bboxx group notably managing the launch of Bboxx operations in West Africa as the Head of Expansion.
Justus was most recently the Managing Director of Bboxx Rwanda and chairman of the Solar sub-sector under the industry association (EPD). He holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and a Master of Business administration (MBA).
His predecessor Jeff Vanden Berghe, who will be joining Bboxx Group as Operations Director. During his 4-year tenure, Jeff was steadfast with the introduction of new products, securing funding and onboarding new partners.
Globally, Bboxx recently acquired PEG Africa, a solar energy frontrunner in West Africa with operations in 4 countries: Senegal, Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Mali. Following this acquisition, Bboxx has now over 4,000 employees and is positively impacting the lives of more than 3.5 million people in 10 markets.
The company aims to transform the continent’s utility sector by becoming one of the largest networks for clean utility services and an enabler of access to goods and services for underserved communities.
